GOP Leaders Say Dems Cries of Racism Are All Political

In the wake of a call by Democrats led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for official condemnation for President Trumps racially-charged comments, House Republican leaders have stood by President Trump, saying that the outrage from the left is “all about politics” and suggesting it’s being used to revive an impeachment push.

“They talked more about impeachment than anything else,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said, referring to Monday’s fiery press conference with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley. “We should get back to the business of America.”

The battle between Trump and congressional Democrats over his weekend tweets has become all-consuming, effectively putting everything else on the backburner.

One thing that can be said for sure is that the President’s incendiary comments, have at least for now, united the fractured Democrats. Nancy Pelosi herself has been embroiled in a feud for weeks with those self-same freshman congresswomen – the so-called “squad.” But now, after Trump’s perhaps misguided tweets, telling them they should “go back where they came from,” Pelosi and the entire cadre of House Democrats have been forced to rally around the Squad.

A Floor Vote Condemning the Presidents Tweets

In a House Democratic Caucus meeting Tuesday morning, Speaker Nancy Pelosi made clear her support for the four freshmen amid these attacks — just days after she and Ocasio-Cortez were trading jabs in dueling media interviews.

“These are our sisters,” Pelosi said, according to an aide in the room.

Democratic leaders prepared a resolution condemning Trump’s remarks, and in a floor vote the resolution passed, albeit clearly along party lines. The resolution passed largely along party lines — 235 Democrats joined by only four Republican supported the measure — following hours of back-and-forth and gamesmanship between Republicans and Democrats, which included a GOP objection to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s remarks about Trump and whether she would be allowed to keep speaking on the floor.

The four Republicans who voted for the resolution, which “strongly condemns President Donald Trump’s racist comments that have legitimized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color,” were Will Hurd of Texas, Fred Upton of Michigan, Susan Brooks of Indiana and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.

However, most of the rank and file GOP refused to condemn the President.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. said he did not believe that Trump’s tweets were racist. “I believe this is about ideology, this is about socialism versus freedom,” McCarthy said, adding that the four congresswomen “talked more about impeachment than anything else” at a news conference Monday where they responded to the President.

“This is more from their base. It’s about politics, and it’s unfortunate,” he said. “We should get back to the business of America.”

  1. I am interested in 3 pm to 9 pm part-time M, Tu, Th, Su non-licensed non-certified masseur employment in the Twin Cities MN area exclusively for never-been-married women under age 40.  Response by email is OK.

  2. These fore women are not for our country they should not be here!!!! …we know who has started this craziness it’s all started from Obama. He has lead these people to the white house and also he has tried to start a racist war .This has to be stopped. Now he is setting back and laughing. American society needs to join forces and take our country back !

  3. I am with the president 100%. He is being called horrible things by others but let hin say something and iy’s a whole different story.

    • Maybe because the things he says are racist and the things said about him are about his policies and own actions…

  4. Trump’s remarks had nothing to do with racism. He was criticizing those four women for their hate campaign against America. They clearly show their hate for our Country. I agree with our President.

  5. Mr President Trump, pls don’t go down that path , with those ignorant women, stay on the road for our sake, n ignore them.

We all know what kind of people they are, you are much better then that.

    • That would be fantastic!! He should stick with policy and not trash people for what they look like. Answer their criticisms of his policies with coherent responses of his own and why their policies would be a failure. I would love that!!

  6. President Trump did Not name names. the squad came out on their own. all of them should be fired from their jobs.

  7. The four woman freshman congresswomen are a disgrace to our country and were elected by the misguided brainwashed younger generation, common core products that the “left” has created. The ruination of the Country can be pointed to politically correctness. Only the President dares not to be politically correct and just speaks the truth and tells it like it is and the “left” can’t handle the truth !

The constitution does not say you have a right not to be offended. They need to grow up and just turn away from things that offend. Problem we have is that the “truth hurts!

  8. The four misfit Rhinos supported the four misfit and misguided wackadoodles! Perhaps the Rhinos need replacing.

  9. He did name names and used age old racist rhetoric. If you don’t know what racist rhetoric is, or agree with what he is saying…then you may be a racist. There is no room in America for this.

  10. Of course the GOP leaders and their entire party would put such a spin on Democratic outrage at Trumps blatant racism and bigotry. One can only imagine the outrage from Republicans if these rants and remarks came from the mouth of a Democrat. The facts, plain and simple, are that support for a racist party member, be it the President or a newly elected member of the House or Senate is nothing less than support for racism. How on earth can Republicans support racism in any form; it is immoral, illegal, thoughtless, cruel, self serving, and a violation of everything our country stands for and has fought for since our inception. As a student at a southern university during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s I witnessed first hand the racism that was in plain sight every day, the hatred expressed to and towards blacks, the absolutely clear expression that whites are superior in every way to blacks and there was no effort to conceal this belief. The university was located in Mississippi, a state where atrocities against blacks were common as well as against anyone, black or white, that spoke out or acted against the states racism and racist policies. Much has happened to mute the horrors of racism in our country in the years since I left Mississippi but now, suddenly, under our racist president it has reared its ugly and disgusting head and awakened the hate and fear that fuels his speech and policies. It seems that whenever Republicans have been in control of our government the racists in our country become more active and outspoken; however under Trump we have a president who openly encourages white supremacy and, in fact, supports it. America will never be great so long as racism is tolerated in our country; and as long as it is support by those that govern us we are doomed to fail by almost any measure.

  11. This has NOTHING to do with race. It is the Left’s calling card…which was “Russian Collusion” and then “Manufactured Crisis”! They are all morons and will do and say anything for the POWER!

  12. It all started because big-time lesbian AOC wrongly called Nancy Pelosi a racist and President Trump defended her! BTW, Omar and Tlaib are also lesbians!

  13. The thing is people like her can’t negotiate. When they do, the agreement doesn’t last long without wanting something else. They lie for their own ideologies and force it down other ” non beleavers” throats, or just slice .! Their extremely intolerant of anything not allah. Muslims were banned from entering the U.S. In the 50’s because they couldn’t assimilate to America. It’s amazing to me how someone could could be so disrespectful after being allowed to live the American Dream. Deport! America. Love It Or Leave It.!!
