Even as North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un has been making overtures that he wants to resume nuclear disarmament talks with President Trump, his country has fired off what appear to be missiles in apparent defiance.
According to the South Korean military, North Korea launched at least two “unidentified projectiles” toward the sea on Tuesday Sept. 10, only hours after Kim offered to resume nuclear diplomacy with the United States but warned its dealings with Washington may end without new U.S. proposals.
The North’s projectile launches and demand for new proposals were apparently aimed at pressuring the United States to make concessions when the North Korea-U.S. talks restart. North Korea is widely believed to want the United States to provide it with security guarantees and extensive relief from U.S.-led sanctions in return for limited denuclearization steps.
The North Korean projectiles were fired from its South Phyongan province, which surrounds its capital city of Pyongyang. They flew across the country and in the direction of the waters off its east coast, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff and Defense Ministry.
The military said South Korea will monitor possible additional launches by North Korea but gave no further details as to exactly what the “projectiles” were that were launched by North Korea.
North Korean Projectiles Could Be Rockets, Could Be Large Artillery Shells
Tuesday’s launches were the eighth such launches since late July and the first since Aug. 24. The previous seven launches were revealed to be short-range missile and rocket artillery systems, which experts say can potentially expand the North’s ability to strike targets throughout South Korea, including U.S. military bases there.
The North’s first vice foreign minister, Choe Son Hui, said North Korea is willing to resume nuclear diplomacy with the United States in late September but that Washington must come to the negotiating table with acceptable new proposals. She said if the proposals don’t satisfy North Korea, dealings between the two countries may come to an end.
President Donald Trump called North Korea’s announcement “interesting.”
“We’ll see what happens,” Trump said. “In the meantime, we have our hostages back, we’re getting the remains of our great heroes back and we’ve had no nuclear testing for a long time.”
There was no immediate comment from the White House following reports of the launches.
Talks on North Korea’s nuclear disarmament fell apart in February when Trump rejected North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s demand for sweeping sanctions relief in return for partial, disarmament at their second summit in Vietnam.
It was a huge embarrassment for the young North Korean leader, who made a dayslong train trip to the Vietnamese capital to obtain the sanctions relief he needs to revitalize his country’s troubled economy.
The small missles are getting smaller. NK’s resources are dwindling very fast and the firing of these small missles are only a visual attempt to rattle their rusting sabers.
Their economy is falling apart, the people are losing faith in KJU, and if they can’t afford to make more missles there is no way they are able to get their nuclear program back on track.
We just need to wait them out.
I believe President Trump means well but I know Kim Jong-Un is the same as his father and he
will not give up his quest for nuclear weapons or agree to a reunification of Korea. He is
playing the same old game his father played and as long as China has his back, this is going
nowhere and a waste of time and money which we have been throwing at them for decades.
For the record, I participated in the contingency plan for the far east many years ago and
as far as Korea is concerned, nothing much has changed.
Korean Leader gets in the Spotlight by dealing with Trump, the most powerful leader in the world.
Trump is in a position of power by continuing negotiations, if we lift sanctions then reach a trade agreement with NK that provides jobs giving NK a step closer to ending the Marxist Leninist Socialist Government.
NK leader is not ignorant, any agreement he makes with Trump will only solidify his power as a leader because it will make a better life for Korea’s peoples. Elevating quality of life, healthcare, education. Any dictator in the world, if educated can clearly see a free enterprise system allowing people to setup businesses etc makes a unified world
Unfortunately the NWO movement is several steps back that ends in chaos, poverty, into a socialist world for lower classes/castes while resurrecting a world ruled by Nobility protected by the Lords of Law, an upper middle class, ruling with the iron fist of Bars on doors, genocide, etc
Kim May see an opportunity to join with SK, Japan, Australia, and other democracies, whose standard of living, literacy is so superior to IndoChina, it would mean a place in history for ending communist-socialist Rule.
Trump is a genius at making deals in the best interest for a better World, one without the NWO Or socialism the ( privately owned ) International Central Bank who have been creating their One World Bank where only their Shareholders make the rules. More likely than not KIM also sees the reality of THEIR one bank world that clearly disenfranchises; NK, USA, etc into an Oligarch world, where common low caste/class people become little more than chattel, denied healthcare, education, using belief systems as a weapon of enslavement, whether Marxism, HinduIslamic, Buddhists, etc.
Anything but Christianity or Judaism because both follow the Great Spirit of Truth into an ever increasing Literate world, where’s Nobility is lost to time, instead of continuing their current World Domination LEgal💲GAME manipulating currencies, commodities, bank rates to destroy whatever nations economy they select to acquire geophysical assets with their international Shell corporations funded by their Stolen IMF created by imaginary loan rates for printing up money out of thin air.
