The Pentagon Has Transferred Funds To Complete The Wall

Secretary of Defense Mark Esper signed off on $3.6 billion in Defense Department construction funds for 175 miles of wall on the border. President Trump says that with that injection of funds added to the progress that has been made so far, that his promised border wall with Mexico will likely be completed by the end of the next year.

Trump made those statements speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, explaining that construction is moving along “rapidly” and that he expects “close to 500 miles of wall” to be “almost complete if not complete by the end of next year,” specifically “just after the election.” The President added, “We’re building different sections simultaneously,”

Trump then went on to say that by the end of 2020 there will be walls up that will “take care of all the areas we wanted,” as well as “some of the marginal areas” that were of a lower priority.

Various forms of barriers already have existed along 654 miles — about a third — of the border. The Trump administration has already awarded $2.8 billion in contracts for barriers covering 247 miles, with all but 17 miles of that to replace existing barriers instead of expanding coverage.

The President referenced the Supreme Court’s August ruling that cleared the way for the government to use about $2.5 billion, after funding had been frozen by lower courts while a lawsuit was proceeding.

Trump had directed $155 million to be diverted to border facilities from FEMA disaster relief. When asked if he was still comfortable with this decision given the ongoing presence of Hurricane Dorian, Trump pointed out that the storm so far has not required the level of action the administration predicted.

“We’re using much less here than we anticipated,” Trump said, as officials had initially expected Dorian to hit Florida much harder than it had. Acting FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor said Sunday, as Dorian made its approach that his agency was well prepared to address the challenges posed by the storm, despite the money being diverted to the border. “We have plenty of money and resources,” Gaynor told “Fox News Sunday,” claiming the loss of that money “is not affecting our preparedness whatsoever for Dorian.”

The storm continues to make its way up the US East Coast and now poses a threat from the Carolinas to southeast Virginia.

  1. They will shimmy up the wall, cover wire with clothes and shimmy down the other side. I hope you have a better wall designed.

Many military experts say the Pakistani Taliban must be included in the peace talks underway. Are they included and if not why? Will there be a force left to gather intelligence and keep us protected from these radical extremists currently involved with ongoing attacks against our forces ? If not why? How can there be peace if you are not dealing with all of the enemy?
Retirees are hurting and many of your policies seem to disregard the adverse effects on this group. Don’t sign any bill that adversely affects and increases taxes in any way on any IRA of any type, despite republican support of such bills. The government seems to always want more and renigs on programs that help ordinary Americans. You will lose support from those adversely affected.
How about giving the details of the previous bad deals of Carter, Clinton and Obama, rather than glossing over them with general remarks. Spell out in detail what these deals meant to the American industry and the middle and working tclass. Point out that labor unions were against it. Keep fighting China, the communist party there hates America and lies and breaks every deal they enter into. The moneyed interests will continue to work against you so educate the American people.
Try to add people to our cause. Your base will be with you if you continue to deliver on your promises and educate them on what all is at risk. If you don’t they will stay home, they do have a choice despite what you said earlier. They must be motivated and educating them will motivate them. Talk to the young people, blacks and legal immigrants as well.
Declassify the deep state materials that you promised. We are greatly disappointed with General Barr’s inability to clean up the DOJ and Wray’s inability to clean up the FBI. Stop the dual justice system that ravaged your campaign people and your appointees.

  3. It’s about time, that wall is three years overdue thanks to the far left thinkers, definitely not doers. Thanks POTUS for thinking of Americans first.

    • About time. The Corp of Engineers over stated the cost so much like they were in Pelosi’s pocket instead of real world costs.

  4. THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT FOR SHOWING US THE PEOPLE YOU WILL PROTECT OUR COUNTRY!YOU KEPT THE PROMISES YOU MADE TO CITIZENS! GREAT TO HAVE PRESIDENT WHO SAYS WHAT HE MEANS, AND MEANS WHAT HE SAYS!

  5. Thank you.I AM A VETERAN AND TAXPAYER THE WALL WILL GET YOU ELECTED.YOU HAVE MY WEST VIRGINIA VOTE IN 2020.YOU NEED TO EXPORE A THIRD TERM I BET YOU COULD FIND AWAY.NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE.THIS COUNTRY HAS LOST ITS WAY AND 2 TERMS WONT FIX IT.YOU ARE MY GEORGE WASHINGTON.

  6. I’m confused. All during the campaign Mr TYrump told us Mexico will pay for the wall so why are we diverting OUR money that was intended for our military? As a Vietnam vet who served 17 years flying century series jet fighters I’m not happy with this.

  7. Delays by Obama judges. Lies and more lies by the Democrats and their sycophants in the media. Yet despite all the insane opposition, Trump continues to work toward protecting this republic and keeping his campaign promise.

Make your campaign on the issues and you will win, Mr. President!
