President Trump has apparently pointed the finger at Iran for the fiery oil field attacks, however, he says he would prefer to “avoid” war with Iran.
Trump said it’s “looking like” Iran was responsible for this past weekend’s attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil supply.
“Well, it’s looking that way,” the president told reporters at the White House when asked if Iran was responsible. “We’ll let you know definitively.” He added, “That’s being checked out right now.’
Iran has denied involvement in the attacks, which came as tensions rise over Tehran’s unraveling nuclear deal with world powers.
While the President talked-up America’s military might, and tweeted about being “Locked and Loaded,” after the drone attacks, he said that the U.S. would not look at retaliatory options until he personally had “definitive proof” Iran was responsible.
During a meeting with Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa, Trump talked up the United States’ weapons systems, including fighter jets and missiles. He said the U.S. “is more prepared” for conflict than any country in history.
“With all that being said, we’d certainly like to avoid it,” he said of a conflict. Adding, “I don’t want war with anybody.”
Drone Attacks Set Saudi Refineries and Oil Fields Ablaze
Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels said they launched drone attacks on the world’s largest oil processing facility in Saudi Arabia and a major oil field Saturday, sparking huge fires and halting about half of the supplies from the world’s largest exporter of oil.
The attacks marked the latest of many drone assaults on the kingdom’s oil infrastructure in recent weeks, but easily the most damaging. They raised concerns about the global oil supply and could further escalate tensions across the Persian Gulf amid a growing crisis between the U.S. and Iran over the troubled nuclear deal.
The fires led to the interruption of an estimated 5.7 million barrels in crude supplies, as Saudi officials said part of that would be offset with stockpiles. Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil giant, planned to provide updated information in the coming days.
According to reporting by Fox News, Defense Secretary Mark Esper attended an emergency National Security Council meeting on Sunday at the White House along with Vice President Pence, where military options were discussed.
On Monday, Esper said that he has spoken with the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman, and Iraqi Minister of Defense al-Shammary about the recent attack on Saudi Arabian oil facilities.
“The United States military, with our interagency team, is working with our partners to address this unprecedented attack and defend the international rules-based order that is being undermined by Iran,” Esper said.
Iran never admits to anything it does (preferably) in secret. Instead, it hopes to frustrate adversarial powers by never admitting fault. When it hit Saudi Arabia recently, again Iran denied. In that case, Iran obviously believes that the Saudis cannot go against Iran militarily. I’m also willing to believe Iran feels the same about France, as it does about Saudi Arabia. The Saudis have a most minimal military, because it depends upon its belief that nations affected by Saudi oil deliveries, will take action on behalf of the impotent Saudi government. What is most strange about Saudi Arabia is the fact that 19 (all of them) airliner hijackers were Saudi nationals, which used their enrollment in U.S. learning centers to be cover for their mission to hijack airliners and the jets as missiles to destroy their chosen U.S. targets. They almost had success for their entire suicide mission, the WTC plus the occupants within the WTC being the most major catastrophe, the Pentagon second in losses to WTC on 9/11. SAudi Arabia has a token air force of U.S. built planes, its pilots trained via U.S. schools.The relationship to U.S.A. is one of “Big Brother” U.S.A. and dependent Little Brother Saudi with oil resources to sell.

If by analysis of the found components and the explosive particles used it is found that Iran was responsible then any and all means possible to put them back into the Stone Age is just fine with me ! I think for now any retaliatory action should be brought by the Saudi military before anyone else is involved. The Houthi rebels are claiming responsibility so track down their camps and hide outs and obliterate them
“IF” Iran is responsible. The emphasis is on “if”. Israel is terrified by Iran, and they want the US to go to war for them with Iran. I fear that this was another one of Israel’s shift the blame schemes. They’re experts at it.
