As the discord between Democrats and Republicans continues to increase over the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham has lashed out at the Dems, saying, “If we were doing this, you’d be beating the sh*t out of us.”
Graham dropped the “S-bomb” speaking bluntly to a reporter while accusing Democrats of selectively leaking portions of testimony from their closed-door hearings, without affording Republicans the opportunity to subpoena or publicly cross-examine witnesses. “And, I think it says a lot about people in your business, with all due respect,” he told the reporter.
At the press conference, Graham continued, “We’re not telling the House they can’t impeach the president. What we’re telling the House is, there’s a right way to do it, and a wrong way to do it. … This is one part legal, and two parts politics.”
Graham’s harsh words came as he touted his resolution formally condemning House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, saying the proceedings defy historical precedent and deny fundamental “due process” to the White House.
Graham, who said his resolution had 41 Republican cosponsors “and climbing,” noted that 31 Democrats had voted to open an impeachment inquiry into Bill Clinton in 1998. But, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has refused to hold a vote on beginning proceedings against President Trump, and instead unilaterally announced that the inquiry had begun.
The move to put House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., in charge of the inquiry was only a small part of Democrats’ “substantial deviation from what the House has done in the past,” Graham asserted, noting that the Judiciary Committee has typically handled impeachment probes.
Seeking to bolster his commitment to administrative fairness, Graham noted that he previously supported legislation that would have protected then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being terminated by Trump.
“The attempt to open an inquiry into the impeachment of President Trump failed miserably, so they’ve created a new process, which I think is very dangerous for the country,” Graham told reporters.
Graham’s resolution specifically called on the House to vote immediately to initiate a formal impeachment inquiry; and demanded that the House “provide President Trump, like every other American, with due process, to include the ability to confront his accusers, call witnesses on his behalf, and have a basic understanding of the accusations against him that would form any basis for impeachment.”
The resolution also “calls on the House of Representatives to provide members of the minority with the ability to participate fully in all proceedings and have equal authority to issue subpoenas and other compulsory process.”

Lindsey Graham doesn’t vote in lockstep – as do the democrats at every level – in the senate and he gets excoriated for that by many conservatives. That there are so many deserting Republican Senators, especially, Romney, who didn’t think Trump was such a terrible person that he Romney couldn’t ask for Trump’s support in his own run for president!!!!
What is happening is being done cravenly in a strictly political manner – just what the Founding Fathers tried to prevent. Previous congresses have totally understood that. How can a substantial number of Americans think it is OK to turn Impeachment over to an epitome of a Sleazy, oily Politician. People who hate Trump are so into that, they don’t care that the upper echelons of our FBI with abetting from CIA and NSA began a project to “get rid” of first Candidate Trump and then the President – at the same time the person in Charge of Impeachment came on national TV several times and said he, himself, had SEEN evidence from the Mueller report showing Trump to to GUILTY of “whatever” with the Russians. (He always used the word Collusion with the Russians, though every lawyer, including, finally, Mueller, said that collusion was not a crime). As one lawyer said that was why Hillary was not guilty either when her campaign paid millions to have a foreign agent try to find dirt (in Russia) on her political foe, Mr. Trump!! As soon as the Mueller didn’t prove to be their ouster of the president, they messed around for a week or two with finding obstruction themselves, and then went straight to the CIA mole who had been placed in the White House to spy on the president of the USA. Folks, anyone with a lick of common sense can figure out if there was anything nefarious going on with Trump or his campaign, the FBI and/or the Muller group with unlimited FBI aid and millions of dollars would have FOUND IT! Does America want this debacle to be the standard for picking a president and keeping him in office for the future – because precedent is a dangerous thing to set!!???

Despite his efforts, the only place Senator Graham might ever out-do Trump would be in a contest to derive which has their head stuffed farther up their own ass. In the end Trump will likely prevail in this area as well because he’s had a pretty good head start however, I wouldn’t count the Senator out just yet.
God knows that Republicans in the Senate, as well as the White house are (and here I am using Trump’s newest invective), “human scum”, but worse, they turned their backs on their constituents, our Constitution, our allies, and our country and all it had stood for since we won our independence.

There is no precedent for impeachment. It’s whatever the House wants it to be. That’s the role of the House. After the House has impeached Trump, the Senate will have its job to TRY the president.
