Graham Renews Promise to Investigate Biden’s Ukrainian Connection

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham once again promised on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Sunday, that he will begin an investigation into former Vice President Joe Bidens Ukraine connection, once the impeachment investigation is dispensed within the Senate.

The Republican Senator chairs the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee said he wants to assess if there was any misconduct by Joe Biden in Ukraine, stating that “none of us are above scrutiny.”

The senator repeated his pledge to investigate his lifelong friend stating, “Here’s the deal: this whole process around Ukraine reeks with politics. They have done everything but take a wrecking ball to Donald Trump and his family. We’re not going to live in a world where only Republicans get looked at.”

Graham also acknowledged that Biden is “one of the most decent people I have ever met in my life,” which does call into question Graham’s impartiality regarding his investigation. This is not to suggest the South Carolina Senator would purposely go light on Joe, only that he may interpret evidence differently if he wasn’t a lifelong friend of Biden.

However, perhaps anticipating the general unease with the scheduled investigation Graham tried to assure the “Face the Nation” host that regardless of their friendship, Biden can’t influence his actions as a lawmaker. “As much as I love Joe Biden and I’m sincere when I say that… it’s hard for me to tell my constituents to ignore the fact that Hunter Biden received $50,000 a month from a gas company in Ukraine run by the most corrupt person in Ukraine, and two months after the gas company was investigated, the prosecutor got fired.”

The senator went on to say during the interview, he hoped there was nothing to allegations that the Bidens acted improperly in Ukraine but that he needs to find out.

“I hope I can look at the transcripts of the phone calls between Biden and the Ukraine … and say there is nothing there. These are legitimate concerns about what happened in Ukraine. I love Joe Biden, but none of us are above scrutiny. I’d like to knock all this off and get back on governing the country,” Graham said.

The wildcard to the investigation may actually hinge with the Presidents personal attorney, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who has just returned back from Ukraine with a “suitcase” of documents, perhaps implicating Joe Biden and son Hinter further.

When asked if Giuliani would be welcome in sharing whatever additional information he may have, Graham responded.

“Rudy, if you want to come and tell us what you found, I’ll be glad to talk to you. When it comes to impeachment, I want to base my decision on the record assembled in the House. We can look at Joe Biden and Hunter Biden and anything else you want to look at after impeachment. But if Rudy wants to come to the Judiciary Committee and testify about what he found, he’s welcome to do so.”

The 64-year old lawmaker has already requested documents in a formal letter to the Secretary of State last month related to communications between former Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden, and Ukraine.

“Today, I sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting documents related to contacts between Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden,  other Obama administration officials, and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko,” Graham tweeted out on November 21st.

However, in a not so veiled threat, Biden warned Graham during an interview on CNN to back off, suggesting that the President is calling the shots, not Graham.

“They have him under their thumb right now. They know he knows that if he comes out against Trump, he’s got a real tough road for reelection, number one. He knows me; he knows my son; he knows there’s nothing to this,” he vented. “Trump is now essentially holding power over him that even the Ukrainians wouldn’t yield to.”

Then Biden added this cryptic warning, “Lindsey is about to go down in a way that I think he’s going to regret his whole life.”

That’s a pretty ominous warning, which has led to various speculations. One can only imagine what Biden may be holding over Graham if anything.

  1. Biden threatens anyone who will listen to stop investigating him or his son, Hunter. We, as Americans, deserve to know what was done during the Obama presidency. If anything was done illegally, everyone who is involved needs to be held accountable. Americans have had a problem with the government in the past for never firing people working for them no matter what they do wrong. This has always been the main problem with government employees. They all appear to be above the law!

  2. Looks like the deep state is working on making sure we the voters, will not be allowed to hear, what Biden bragged about in a video captured during the Obama administration. My father always said when we were growing up, there is a lot of snakes hiding within our government. Good thing he is not here to witness these swamp ness monsters, that are attacking a duly elected Great President Trump, that we the people voted for. The deep state is treating the voters as if we are the serfs and they are the Kings and Queens, and they will decide how we can live.

  3. Lindsey talks a lot about…. well everything really
But that is about all … he does just enough to keep him on the fence
Pick a side Lindsey we don’t care which one
But stop hiding we see who you are and what your not doing we know where your true loyalty is and it seems it loyalty to Lindsey! There is no grey side Lindsey your either for or against choose you this day whom you will serve
    God save the King

  4. Then Biden added this cryptic warning, “Lindsey is about to go down in a way that I think he’s going to regret his whole life.”

Not sure this statement is cryptic. Biden may believe that Graham is so under Trump’s thumb, and the Hunter charges so baseless, that Graham will go down under his own weight.
