President Trump has signed the greatest relief package in history to help Americans who are reeling financially from the impacts of COVID-19. But he is not stopping there!
The president has continued to work hard to ensure people hurt most by the coronavirus are protected financially throughout the crisis. Over this past weekend, he revealed that the two largest medical insurance companies, Cigna and Humana, have begun allowing patients to receive COVID-19 related care without a co-pay.
Cigna is waiving out-of-pocket fees for diagnostic visits, testing and treatment for coronavirus. Humana is also approving free treatment for patients with symptoms, but who are unable to receive testing.
Additionally, the president reassured Americans facing financial stress that their stimulus checks would be arriving soon. He has asked landlords and debt collectors to show leniency.
“I think a lot of people that are owed money are gonna take it easy, they don’t sort of have a choice, but a lot of concessions are made just like the insurance companies,” said the president. “That wouldn’t have even been thought of three weeks ago, not even thought of.”
President Trump is also focused on providing help for businesses affected by the pandemic. He announced he was calling on Congress to reverse to a 2017 tax reform that eliminated possible tax deductions for “entertainment expenses” provided by a corporation for its employees.
Through this, businesses could go to local restaurants to get lunch for its employees and deduct the cost of the entire meal. This would help save the business money, while providing revenue to local restaurants that are struggling.
In his latest COVID-19 daily briefing, Trump reminded Americans that while the current circumstances were dire, America has conquered every challenge it has ever faced.
“The American people have embodied the unrivaled patriotism and willpower that has led America to conquer every challenge—every single one—in our Nation’s history,” he said.
