Dunkin’, McDonalds and Starbucks will close a combined 1,400 locations across the U.S., as the companies report major sales plunges amid the coronavirus crisis.
Dunkin’ (née Donuts), which reported a 20% second-quarter revenue drop, will close 800 or 8% of its retail locations by the end of 2020, including 450 Speedway outposts as the fast food chain has terminated its partnership with the gas company.
“By exiting these sites, we are confident we will be better positioned to serve these trade areas with Dunkin’s newest next generation restaurant design that offers a broader menu and modern experience,” Dunkin Chief Financial Officer Kate Jaspon told Fox Business.
McDonalds, whose revenue dropped 30% in the second quarter, will shutter 200 outposts in 2020, including all restaurants within Walmart stores, per CNBC.
Starbucks, where net sales dropped 38% in the second quarter, will close 400 locations through 2021 and invest in pandemic-proof sale solutions like mobile pick-ups and drive-thru ordering, reports CNBC.

Knowing “Dunkin” they will make the cups even smaller and raise the price a lot more. Pretty soon it will be $5 for a 2 oz cup.
Dunkin is one of those companies that just keeps trying to reinvent itself and fails every time. Donuts Donuts Donuts 🍩 should be the #1 focus. They used to be delicious and had wide variety, not so much anymore.

McDonalds ruined themselves during this pandemic. They shortened hours, they shortened their menu. No more 24/7 breakfast, that was dumb. Same same here. Always back n forth. Stop microwaving your food, make everything fresh again, serve breakfast 24/7, serve nothing but quality an watch your business thrive. There are McDonalds that do this, I have one in my area that’s so good an does such a good job they rebuilt the whole restaurant from ground up during the lockdown. So it’s not the food it’s the quality of the food served, it’s service, it’s variety! Also some of those Walmart McDonalds are the best there is, they do cook everything there.
Starbucks lost money selling $8 cups of 💩! Well that’s hard to believe. Dumbest thing ever an people think it’s ok. In my opinion seems pretty easy why they suck!
Overall the drive thru will a big seller no matter what but PIZZA wins it all in the end. Their business has exploded!
