Rich NFL Players Continue to Protest Their Oppression
Raiders at Redskins 9/24/17

Over 30 players from the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans, knelt in protest during the playing of the national anthem prior to their Monday Night Football tilt.

18 Denver Broncos and 13 Tennessee Titans took a knee and/or raised fists in protest.

According to the Denver Post:

Linebacker Bradley Chubb, wideout Jerry Jeudy, running back Melvin Gordon and safeties Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson were among the Broncos who knelt, while defensive linemen Jurrell Casey and DeMarcus Walker stood with a fist raised. Also kneeling for the Broncos were Malik Reed, Michael Ojemudia, Royce Freeman, Essang Bassey, P.J. Locke, Bryce Callahan, Duke Dawson, A.J. Bouye, Davontae Harris, Dre’Mont Jones, Shelby Harris, Lloyd Cushenberry and Calvin Anderson.

The Broncos released a statement defending their players right to protest for “positive change.”

As for the Titans who protested, those were Rodger Saffold, Nate Davis, Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown, Amani Hooker, Kenny Vaccaro, David Long, Kristian Fulton, Tye Smith, Jeffery Simmons, Joshua Kalu, Isaiah Mack and MyCole Pruitt.

Both teams stood for the playing of the “black national anthem.”

The NFL’s first primetime offering for Week 1, NBC’s Sunday Night Football, a game which also saw large social justice demonstrations, suffered a huge ratings crash of nearly 30 percent.

    • I am soo… very proud of the football, basketball, soccer, baseball, & tennis players; for their stance against racial injustice & police brutality. They are descendants of a long tradition of sports & entertainment figures, who have done like-wise, for well over 100 years, in this country. From Jack Johnson, to Jesse Owens, to Paul Robison, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, Curt Flood, Muhammad Ali, Arthur Ash, John Carlos, Tommie Smith, Colin Kaepernick, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James, the WNBA women, to Megan Ruppino; to name a few from a long illustrious list of “dignified, brave, compassionate” stars. To the haters & white supremacists, posting in this blog-thread: “Put an Egg in Your Shoe & Beat It!”, because nobody is gonna miss you dummies if/when you boycott sports. You-all are on the wrong side of history &, as it has in the past, Sports will survive just fine without your viewership and/or attendance. It will be the better for it…hemselves?

      • You are just as sick as they are. If you don’t love America there are other places that may take you. We may have our problems but these players make millions and they are fooling you into thinking they care about the underprivileged. They care about no one except themselves. Why don’t they do something constructive and help clean up the impoverished cities, be big brothers to those who need it, help tutor those that need help in reading or math, etc. There are plenty of ways they could provide constructive assistance instead of showing this negative stance against America and what we stand for.

    • A separate “Black National Anthem” ? That doesn’t sound very Unifying! Sounds like segregation! I thought most Americans have been fighting against segregation for decades ! Well except for Joe Biden and other small minded bigots……..

  1. Totally agree! The way to get our point across is to remove the NFL money source. If it wasn’t for football, most players would still be out in the hood selling dope!

  2. I sincerely wish an ACL encounter to any kneeler or fist raiser injecting liberal politics in our sports and disrespecting our flag and/or our country. The hypocrisy of the left, and the using of the ignorant by the Democratic Party, is appalling. To see rich, winners of the system, like our athletes disrespecting our country like we are seeing goes beyond ration.

IMO, Antifa and most of BLM are enemies of all of us in this country and are trying to agitate race wars to divide us all to bring down our country.

    Enough!!!!!

  3. These ignorant, non-enlightened cry babies need to look at America’s history and appreciate that only in America could they have had the freedom and opportunity to accomplish their millionaire status simply by playing a game all because real men have fought and died to defend America and the freedoms that it provided these unappreciative cowards that report to “work” (playing a game) and display their hatred toward our flag, national anthem and our country. Their “political” expressions should NOT be allowed while they are at “work”. They should express their political views when the are not at “work”. Their audiences did not come to see them disgrace our country, but to do their “job” of playing a game!

  4. As long as the overpaid idiots protest, I will protest also by not watching TV games or purchasing products that are advertised on the stations.

    This is my protest.

  5. Amazing how dense these guys are destroying their livelihood. What they are doing is not entertainment and serves no purpose to promote their business. When no one is buying into this clown show they will soon get the message thru the paycheck stub.

  6. WHAT OPPRESSION ? You people making MILLIONS of Dollars every year, are definitely NOT oppressed ! Do you even understand what “Oppression” means ? I actually doubt that you do !

  7. Zero sympathy for these rich hypocrites who are happy to take our money but plead they are being oppressed,
I’ll never watch th NFL ever again !!!!

  8. I hope they’re all saving their money! You can bet damn near all of them haven’t coughed up more than token financial help to any of those they claim to stand for. Save your money, guys because you’re killing your sport and your only meal ticket, but don’t stop because every day I meet people who have turned the TV & radio off and have stopped buying your NFL trinkets!

  9. I would like to see a team kneel in front of a large contingent of military personnel from all branches – make sure that the military personnel stand directly in front of the football players on both sides as well as a large group of local, state and sheriff’s deputies. Include past and retired as well as they stand for the American Flag.

This needs to be done at all sports games

  10. Wealthy Athletes protesting over oppression….., you’ve got to be kidding me? How are Wealthy Professional Athletes protesting oppression, when they are being payed MILLIONS by White People to Play Games They Love already anyway?
How can you, with a good Conscience Protest the Countries Anthem that’s been making YOU RICH? If anything, you should be starting organizations to help those who are less privileged, not oppressed, because NOBODY in The United States is being Oppressed at all.
True oppression is when a Country keeps a culture down intentionally with laws that actually impede ones ability to improve ones progress in life. Ask all the Black Astronauts, Black Attorneys, Black Doctors, Black Scientists etc.! I don’t see oppression, I see people trying to take down their own country over personal grievances over Law Enforcement, and they tactics that Law Enforcement uses. That’s abuse of force, NOT Oppression.
Answer me this; If Oppression exists in America, Why is BLM getting sponsors from AMERICAN Corporations? yeah, that’s not Oppression, that’s TRUE Privilege, getting Sponsored to Riot, Protest, Loot, and Kill? YOU are the Ultra Privileged & Entitled just for being Black or Crazy Stupid people that think Rioting with their friends somehow helps them in life, and that’s VERY Ignorant. You know how you can Help your Friends; help them with their homework, help them find jobs, help them identify their strengths, so they can get the jobs that they are most suited for.
Don’t be an Anarchist, beca hero, and help your friends succeed in life, not how to destroy the Country they live in.
Be a champion for justice, not a Notorious Terrorist LOSER!

  11. well go protest so will the rest of us you primadonna over paid disrepctful asses. no more sports mlb.nba nfl
sports is for our entertainment so get you own f stage to protest. i will not watch buy or acknowedge any more til you groww up and respect america

  13. Post My Comments! Or, do you not want a “real thinking/well-researched” citizen to challenge you & your “braindead” posters, with “historical facts”? Like your “pu..y grabbing” hero is very fond of saying: “I love my low information” supporters.

  14. You are a “fake ass patriot”; as “real patriots” are “not afraid” of “opposing views”. Are you concerned, that I may sway some in your “small flock” of sheeps, to actually think for themselves?

  15. If they truly believe in what they say then maybe they should lower the team salary caps by 15% or 20% and have the league donate that 15% or 20% directly to the players unions. Then the players unions can take that money and use it to build job training centers in the inner city that teach people to be welders, plumbers, electricians, auto mechanics, IT, AC repair, etc. and get their certification. Then they will have the skills they need to go out and get a job that employers are looking for.

  16. Oh! You poor downtrodden millionaires. You are so mistreated. Thousands of fans earning 1% of your paycheck watch you perform and you have the gall to complain about being mistreated. Face it– you are grossly overpaid and the world gives a crap whether you perform, disappear or just shut up. Go to another country where they “appreciate” you. Better yet, get a job you can actually do, and live like the rest of us.

  17. While freedom of speech is a right our constitution allows, some speech and actions do more harm than good. Supporting groups who counter discrimination with anger and violence only gives rise to further conflict. It is counter productive. It is sad to see that the NFL allows actions that openly display such hatred and lack of respect for authority and country. It is also sad that the media tends to highlight the offensive, causing further division, rather than highlighting activities that promote community.
No one is perfect. Contrary to popular culture, being forgiving, thankful for what you have, sharing time and resources to help others goes a long way to heal wounds (ours and others’). Those are the things that lead to positive change. “As ye would that men should do to you, do you also to them.” Who will be bold enough to take the first step?

  18. Let’s get real here
    These over paid spoiled brats
For got where they cane from
People pay hard earned money for thouse tickets
    They come to get entertained
Not to be scolded about the unjust things going on in the world there’s a time and a place
For that and it is not at a sporting event that

  19. When someone steals their Porsche, Ferrari, or some other nice car, who they gonna call. As Barkley says call Ghost
Busters. With a league at over 80% black players and higher than that white fans, I do not think the hiring is geared toward whites, latinos or others. Wow how racist is that. The fans need to boycott all this nonsense and they can go live in their plush houses and gated communities until the cash flow stops. We do not have systemic racism in this country, we have parental negelect. Raise your kids not to steal, not point guns at officers, to treat others with respect and they to shall gain respect. Put them in schools and get them the hell off basket ball courts and football fields when they should be in school. This works for all races, become a great parent and raise your children the right way. I have worked hard all my life and never asked for anything. I expect that if I work hard I will succeed. Racism is not reserved for Black Americans, White Americans, Latino Americans, and all other Americans of different races have felt racism against them. Racism is racism and it all needs to stop. Defund professional sports. Who needs them???????????????????????

  20. Don’t talk about oppression while you are making millions playing a game and millions of others are suffering day to day. Yes there is racism but it is not as wide spread as you all are being led to believe. There are many ignorant people out there who are either being told the same lies used to divide America or just have never had any interactions with those of a different race. The MSM and talking heads will lead many to believe that all whites are racist with no valid confirmation otherwise. Just that in itself is racist as it is lumping one group of people in a box and labeling them. Thats what racism and discrimination is all about by lumping people of one race, gender or sexual orientation into one box and putting a label on them. This is also what is taught in so called sensitivity training in some instances. The last one I went through is exactly what they did. And the instructors taught it with a angry attitude. They tried to divide the room up into to many different kinds of groups for their games. So rather than teaching about everyone as an individual, they sought to put people in groups and play make believe. SO regardless what race, gender or sexual orientation you are, we are all individuals and should be treated as so. Not by group definition they are pushing.
