Why were people upset enough to climb the steps of the Capitol building?
Nothing less than the freedoms of America, the ability to fairly elect our government officials. The interference in free speech, the corruption of the free press who have been co-opted to spread propaganda in the worst possible way.
A wise man once said that in a democracy the government should be afraid of the people. This is the opposite of a tyranny where the people are afraid of the government.
Today, these Pro-Trump protesters made the government just a little bit afraid.
Considering the massive number of participants this was a peaceful protest. You will see a lot of hype on the media about “violence” and “rioters.” And hypocritical, self-aggrandizing politicians, even on the GOP side “condemned the violence” without recognizing the importance of the issue. They want the high road for the next Antifa/BLM riot.
Admittedly, some protesters broke a window and ran around the Capitol, and some police resisters scuffled a bit.
But these were not Antifa, or BLM. They did not attack innocent people or destroy random businesses.
You may also hear that two people were shot. We know nothing about this, and I’m willing to bet it had nothing to do with the protests. Some even say there were Antifa infiltrators, but we won’t know for a while.
Bottom line, this country means a lot to real Americans. Our confidence in the resilience of our democracy has been shaken. We see China attacking from the outside and socialists disaster from within. Personally, I was glad to see both the boldness and the peacefulness of the effort.
I do believe things have been shaken, just a bit.
