Former President Donald Trump has unveiled a new freedom site called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump.”
The announcement came a day before Facebook voted to uphold Trump’s ban on the social media platform.
Trump’s new web page shows a video exclaiming “A BEACON OF FREEDOM ARISES” and “A PLACE TO SPEAK FREELY AND SAFELY.”
Trump aides have been hinting at the former President launching his own social media website after being banned from virtually all existing platforms. However, spokesman Jason Miller says this blog is something separate.
“President Trump’s website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform,” Miller said in a tweet. “We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future.”
The website is reportedly built by Campaign Nucleus, a digital services company created by Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale.
On the new blog site, Trump called out big tech giants, including Facebook, Twitter, and Google, saying they are “a total disgrace.”
“Free speech has been taken away from the President of the United States because the radical left lunatics are afraid of the truth,” Trump said.
“The people of our country will not stand for it! These corrupt social media companies must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our electoral process,” he added.
YouTube has said they will reactivate Trump’s account when the threat of “real-world violence” reduces.
Twitter, however, has banned him permanently.
