The ranking Republican member of the House Judiciary Committee has called for an investigation of CNN for their unfounded reporting that President Trump could not be trusted with US intelligence.
The demand from Rep. Doug Collins came last week, following the way CNN handled reports involving President Trump and a spy in Russia.
Collins wondered “whose side CNN is on” following the controversial report, speaking on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” about the left-leaning network’s claim that the CIA had pulled a high-level spy out of Russia because President Trump had “mishandled” classified material.
CNN’s reporting last week that Trump’s actions may have jeopardized the position of a covert spy was slammed by the Central Intelligence Agency as “misguided” reporting and “simply false.”
“To put this out at this time and to put this in such a way that the CIA actually had to come out and respond to this is really a disturbing part,” Collins said. “I mean I really question, whose side is CNN on?” the Georgia Republican added. “This is a problem that we’re seeing. I think it needs to be investigated. But with the CIA coming out like it has then I think this will be something we need to look at, but I think it’s also concerning.”
“Unfortunately, some may misunderstand what is commonsense,” Jessica Andrews, a spokesperson for Collins said in a statement to the Press. “The CIA is in a position to know what the facts are in this case. When the CIA takes the step of coming out to contradict a story, it’s worth asking how we got to that point,” Andrews said.
“The Congressman was specifically calling for personal reflection on how a story with national security implications was published when our national intelligence experts say it’s inaccurate,” the statement concluded.
CNN Stands By Its Story
For its part, CNN is defending their reporting of the story. That despite the fact that the equally anti-Trump New York Times, later the same evening, published an article that basically contradicted CNN’s reporting, saying the CIA “made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia.”
This happened weeks before Trump even took office and, according to the Times, was due to “media scrutiny of the agency’s sources,” not anything The President had or had not done.
While Collins rebuked CNN over the report, he indicated that it wasn’t surprising.
“First let’s talk about who actually brought the story — CNN,” he told Fox News anchors Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith.
“This is the same group that hired Andy McCabe,” he said, referring to the former FBI deputy director who has been hired as a CNN commentator.
Just the other day, the Justice Department recommended indicting McCabe for lying about leaks regarding the FBI’s investigation in Hillary Clinton’s emails.
It is past due time to finally investigate those who make false claims about anyone especoally our president.
The physician who placed his signature to Biden’s medical report now finds himself in a very compromising position. Yet, he may have professionally felt that Biden could persevere in a political campaign for the presidency. But, Biden of today is not fairing well on the debate stage. It’s as if he doesn’t realize the full weight of declaring that he’s eligible for election to the top federal election position.
I feel sorry for Biden, though I know I could not vote for him to be President. His record of loyalty to the Democratic Party has been positive, despite certain rumors about him as Vice President, and matters affecting Ukraine.
The Democratic Party can never deny that Joe Biden was always there to do the Party’s bidding. Except for now, as he apparently cannot help himself to express lucid comments and debate responses. His memory apparently wanders and searches for debate responses that would make him appear up to the task, but he talks of issues he thinks would signify that he’s “all there.”
The Democratic Party needs to let him down kindly for his will to come to his Party’s needs of the moment. He should be thanked by the Party for volunteering candidacy, and be discharged of Party circumstances. No doubt about it, the man tried with his utmost, it just won’t work.

I never thought I would say something as stupid as this, maybe our country might be a little too free. This country has freedoms here that we take for granted. Everything was fine until people started to push the envelope. How far can we go, or how much can we bend this. It has gotten to be absolutely ridiculous. You give an inch, they want two. Give em two, they want four. Give a moron a rope, he wanna be a cowboy. What happened to just plain common sense. I guess that’s why they have to put on Halloween costumes warning labels, “this suit will NOT enable you to actually fly or repel bullets”. Have we, as a nation, really gone that far out?
All of this starts with what you see in TV. Some of these news outlets have gone way too far by just making up stories. They ought to lose their broadcast licenses.
There is so much false reporting out there these days that it’s really hard to believe anything you hear on the news. I have gotten to the point i don’t even turn the new on anymore. It is like they have all become tabloids. It’s all about who can write the worst stories. Who can discredit who the worst.
I’m sorry but if your going to air a news story or put it in print you need to have the proof and facts to back it up. It used to be that way and it was enforced not so long ago. I hate pointing fingers but the Democrats actually changed the rules governing the FCC and now these so called reporters are not held accountable and that needs to change.

The FCC is failing to do its job and may even be complicit in covering for the large or largest media services in our country.
