President Biden has never had a reputation for personal integrity. His history is marked with serious accusations of plagiarism – one so serious that he had to drop out of the 1987 presidential campaign. He has told audacious lies about his schooling. Biden claimed to be in the top quarter of his law class when he was in the bottom quarter — and a bevy of other flat-out lies.
Biden constantly takes credit for things he did not do. If you list Biden’s claims in the presidential campaign, you might believe that President Obama spent eight years making paper airplanes in the Oval Office while Biden ran the country.
He recently took credit for inoculating 100 million people in the first 100 days of his administration – even more. The Trump administration previously announced that goal and the infrastructure was all in place when Biden took office. Biden was even deceptive in claiming he exceeded the goal by counting those with one dose. The 100 million projection was based on two shots. In fact, we are well below 100 million with both vaccine doses – about 60 million as of this writing.
In support of the false narrative that the changes in the Georgia election law constituted the suppression of minority votes, Biden traveled deep into whopper land. Biden repeatedly told three lies – such as closing hours were rolled back from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Totally untrue. The closing time remains at 7:00 p.m.
Biden gets away with his lies because most of the liberal media not only refuses to call him out, they actually incorporate the lies into their own partisan narratives. They participate in the lies. MSNBC’s Ari Velshi used the clip of Biden falsely stating the closing times in Georgia had changed. And Velshi continued to report as if what Biden said was true.
That is an intentional lie on Velshi’s part because he knows better. How do I know he knows better? Because one of his must-read publications, the Washington Post, gave Biden four Pinocchios for statements he made in conjunction with the new law in Georgia.
To be a flat-out liar, a politician needs to repeat the lie at least 20 times in the face of public corrections. The person needs to know they are lying. According to a Post statement, “Twenty is a sufficiently robust number that there can be no question the politician is aware that his or her facts are wrong.” In other words, Biden is willfully lying. And if you count all the times Biden’s lies were shown on left-wing news without correction, Biden can be said to have lied to the public hundreds of times.
It is important to know that four Pinocchios is awarded only for the most egregious and wanton lies – and is viewed by the Post as a “bottomless Pinocchio.” Biden’s outright lies about the new Georgia law caused the Post to refer to the president as a “recidivist” liar.
And the closing time was not the only lie that Biden, Democrat leaders and much of the left-wing news media proffered over and over. According to the Post (my highlights):
“On Election Day in Georgia, polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and if you are in line by 7 p.m., you can cast your ballot. Nothing in the new law changes those rules. However, the law did make some changes to early voting. But experts say the net effect was to expand the opportunities to vote for most Georgians, not limit them.”
Biden’s litany of whoppers goes beyond the Georgia election law. The post noted that his claim that more people died from Covid-19 than in World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War combined. Totally not true.
The Post previously awarded two Pinocchios to Biden for repeatedly making false statements about the benefits that flowed to the top one-percenters as a result of the Trump 2017 tax cut.
We should not expect Biden to give up his lifelong reliance on disinformation and outright lies. He is too old to reform – and it has served him well. It got him the presidency. We can only hope that the extinguished flame of journalistic ethics will rekindle and give we the people some level of honest reporting.
So, there ‘tis.
